The 2019 Royal Rumble is just around the corner, but who is going to win? Here, we look at the top contenders for the men and women’s matches.
5 – Drew McIntyre (9/2)
Whilst teaming with Dolph Ziggler late last year, McIntyre was on a roll. He helped team Raw to victory at Survivor Series and looked like the next natural contender to Brock Lesnar. Recent defeats to Finn Balor and Dolph Ziggler, though, have halted the big man’s momentum.
4 – Kevin Owens (25/1)
A long shot given the fact we haven’t seen KO in a while. However, the Royal Rumble is notorious for surprise comebacks and who better than the former Universal Champion to return and win it all?
3 – Braun Strowman (11/4)
I’m still not too sure why Strowman has been removed from his clash with Lesnar. The only reason I can think of is if they want to save it for WrestleMania. The Monster Among Men may well steal someone else’s spot in the match and add the Royal Rumble to his Greatest Royal Rumble victory.
2 – John Cena (11/2)
Cena is always up there in Rumble matches (see our top 10 Royal Rumble Competitors for details) so there is always a chance Big Match John will go all the way. He does seem to be more of a part-timer these days and may fancy a big Mania match.
1 – Seth Rollins (2/1)
Rollins does seem to be the next challenger for Lesnar. Given his babyface status and Mania being famous for big babyface victories over heels, it makes sense for Rollins to take on Lesnar and overcome the odds.
5 – Bayley (40/1)
This may seem unlikely now but it wasn’t long ago that Bayley was the Women’s champion going into Wrestlemania and with odds of 40/1, it seems well worth an outside bet on Sasha Banks’ best friend.
4 – Shayna Baszler (16/1)
The current NXT Womens Champion would be a huge shock if she turned up to win the main roster Rumble. However, given her MMA background, a future title match against Ronda Rousey is very intriguing indeed.
3 – Alexa Bliss (16/1)
Of all the Raw entrants this year, the most likely seems to be Alexa. She is a former champion on both the Raw and Smackdown brands and is gaining more of an influence with her new talk show
2 – Becky Lynch (6/4)
Becky is facing Asuka for the Smackdown Womens title so shouldn’t really be in this match. However, if Ronda interferes in her match again, The Man may decide to turn up and win the Rumble to finally get her shot at Rousey.
1 – Charlotte Flair (4/7)
After what she did at Survivor Series, a rematch between Charlotte and Ronda Rousey is surely on the cards at some point. What better place to have it than the biggest stage of them all Wrestlemania.
