After week 1 of the 2018 NFL preseason, a few teams saw their odds of winning the Super Bowl shorten.
As indicated by Bovada, eight teams have had their odds change since last week:
Super Bowl Odds Changes:
LAR 10/1 to 17/2
PHI 17/2 to 10/1
LAC 20/1 to 25/1
DAL 25/1 to 30/1
KC 35/1 to 40/1
TEN 40/1 to 50/1
IND 66/1 to 80/1
NYJ 200/1 to 150/1
Most strikingly, the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles drifted from 17-2 to 10-1, while the Los Angeles Rams shortened from 10-1 to 17-2.
The Rams are presently the second favourite behind the New England Patriots 13-2, while the Eagles are third in the betting at 10/1.
The Los Angeles Chargers, Dallas Cowboys, Carolina Panthers, Tennessee Titans and Indianapolis Colts all observed their odds of winning the Super Bowl decrease too.
In spite of the fact that they stay long shots, the New York Jets went from 200-1 to 150-1.
That is likely because of the way that rookie quarterback Sam Darnold performed well in New York’s preseason opener, throwing for 96 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions against the Atlanta Falcons.
Thus, Darnold received the majority of the Jets’ first-team reps in subsequent practices ahead of Josh McCown and Teddy Bridgewater, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN.com.
Indeed, even with Darnold calculating toward the beginning occupation, the Jets share the worst odds to win the Super Bowl with their AFC East opponents in the Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills.
Behind the Pats, Rams and Eagles, the Pittsburgh Steelers, Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers are still 12-1, while the New Orleans Saints are 16-1.
The Eagles were 50-1 to win the super bowl the preseason a year ago, however, they went ahead to conquer the odds by beating New England in Super Bowl LII.
Two gifted NFC groups sit at 50-1 to win Super Bowl LIII: the New York Giants and Seattle Seahawks.
