Premier League Sack Race
The unfortunate aspect of managing is that you will always take the blame for poor performances. Last year, the first manager sacked was Frank De Boer after Crystal Palace lost their opening 4 matches without scoring. Here are our top 3 picks at who will be the first manager sacked this season.
3) Jose Mourinho – Manchester United
The Portuguese maverick is already getting his excuses in and the season hasn’t even kicked off yet. Lots of people are saying he will be the first to go but I’m not so sure. Unless United are disastrously bad, he won’t be sacked. He might quit though.
Odds – 4/1
2) Neil Warnock – Cardiff City
On paper, Cardiff has the weakest team in the league and Warnock does not have a great record managing in the top flight. The reason Warnock isn’t top of this list is that he performed miracles getting the Bluebirds promoted and should be given time due to this.
Odds – 10/1
1) Rafa Benitez – Newcastle United
This prediction has nothing to do with Benitez’s abilities as a manager. This is purely due to the fact that Rafa deserves better than the treatment he has received from the owners. I’m surprised he’s stayed this long but if results don’t go to plan, I don’t think he will stick around much longer given the fact he hasn’t been given any money to spend.
Odds – 5/1
– Robert Shiers
