Premier League Arsenal

Continuing our previews for the Premier League season, today we are looking at a club that has gone through major changes since the end of the last term, Arsenal.

For the first time since 1996, the Gunners have a new man in charge, Unai Emery. The Spaniard left PSG in June and takes over from club legend Arsene Wenger. His record for PSG and Sevilla before that is impressive with 1 French league title and 3 Europa League trophies in a row for Sevilla. Arsenal fans will be going into the season united and excited for the first time in a few years.

In: Matteo Guendouzi (Lorient), Bernd Leno (unattached), Stephan Lichtsteiner (Juventus), Sokratis Papastathopoulos (Borussia Dortmund), Lucas Torreira (Sampdoria)

Out: Takuma Asano (Hannover), Santi Cazorla (Villarreal), Jack Wilshere (West Ham)

(4-3-3) Leno; Bellerin, Koscielny, Papastathopoulos, Monreal; Torreira, Ramsey, Xhaka; Mkhitaryan, Aubameyang, Ozil

Aubameyang has the potential to be the goal machine Arsenal have not seen since Thierry Henry. If they are to make the top 4 this season, which is unlikely, it will be because of this man. Emery will be hoping Mesut Ozil can provide the ammunition for the former Dortmund forward to strike.

With a new manager comes new hope for Arsenal. They have made solid, if unspectacular signings, strengthening key positions. However, they were well behind the top 5 last season and have a lot of rebuilding to do. The stars of Arsenal Fan TV may not be happy with this, but maybe they should see this as a rebuilding year. Fam.

VERDICT – 6th place
