SWEDEN vs ENGLAND
3pm BST – Samara
SWEDEN 1-0 Switzerland
In a poor game in Saint Petersburg, Emil Forsberg’s deflected shot separated the 2 sides. Sweden showed why they have gotten this far in the competition with a solid defence that is hard to break down.
Colombia 1-1 ENGLAND (3-4 on pens)
This was a feisty game in Moscow where Colombian defender Mina’s stoppage time equaliser led to extra time and penalties after Harry Kane had earlier put England ahead from the spot. Eric DIer scored England’s winning penalty in a game which may be remembered for a laughable petition to get the game replayed from angry Colombians, despite their side being the dirtiest team John Stones said he has ever faced.
LIKELY LINE UPS
Sweden – (4-4-2) Olsen; Lustig, Lindelof, Granqvist, Augustinsson; Claesson, Larsson, Ekdal, Forsberg; Berg, Toivonen
England – (5-3-2) Pickford; Trippier, Walker, Stones, Maguire, Rose; Henderson, Lingard, Loftus-Cheek; Sterling, Kane
Sweden 1-2 England
This will be a tough game for England, make no mistake. Sweden are tough to beat but with Harry Kane firing I think England will edge it. Rotation may be needed after a long 120 minutes against Colombia. Many will be hoping for Rashford to replace Sterling but he hasn’t set the world alight when given the chance so far.
Kane to score and England win – 13/8
Kane to score, 6+ England corners, Larsson & Lindelof carded and England to qualify – 33/1
Jesse Lingard from outside the area – 12/1
